West Coast Avengers Box Set

This Marvel Legends Target exclusive five-pack includes two repaints, one redo, and two new figures for the line. Iron Man is in his beloved Silver Centurion armor that was previously available as a Walgreens exclusive, I think. The silver parts are repainted a glossy white for this version that still looks good. I’m not sure which version I like better. They added an extra bit of plastic to his neck to try and cover the ball joint that was very noticeable on the original. The Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman I assumed was just a repaint but it’s not. She’s on a new body with pinless joints at the arms and legs. The head is completely knew. It’s subtle but it’s an improvement over the original. Classic Mockingbird is a new for the line and probably the best figure in the box set. She’s got interchangeable hands and weapons, but it’s the cool design and sculpt that make her stand out. Tigra is a repaint. I thought the original looked awesome except she was too orange. Like, she was the mascot for the Cincinnati Bengals orange. This new version corrects her color and we get a new interchangeable passive head sculpt. Finally we get another new figure: Professor Hank Pym. Hank is one of my favorite Marvel characters. I have sort-of conflicting feelings about him in this era, but it’s nice to see it represented in Legends form. So far this year we’ve gotten Professor Pym, and an awesome new Ant-Man figure—even though that’s supposed to be Scott Lang, and the bodies are different sizes. We need a new Yellowjacket figure, as well as Hank’s Giant-Man and Goliath forms. Maybe we’ll see them before the end of the year, like as a HasLab.
