“Aw, Junk, no, not in front of Snake Eyes!” This is more than just one of the best G.I.Joe Classified figures. This is more than just collecting one of my favorite characters from my childhood. This is cathartic. In 2022, after 11 years as a dog owner, I lost both of my dogs, Anya and Lily, within eight weeks of each other. Anya, my first dog and whose death was shocking and sudden, left me an emotional wreck. Lily was suffering at the end, so her passing was a release and a relief. Still, I was left weary and aching after they died, but I didn’t want to rush out to replace them. And then, the day after I put Lily down—and the coincidence of this is not lost on me—the very next day I learned that Mutt & Junkyard were coming to the G.I.Joe Classified line. It made me feel better. I’m not the sort of person who believes that the spirit of my lost pups could live on in a little piece of plastic, but just knowing that Junkyard was going to be in my collection eventually… All I can say is it alleviated some of the hurt. Good boy. ❤️
