I’ve loved this guy for years, probably since I read the anthology TALES FROM THE MOS EISLEY CANTINA in the ‘90s. The Ithorian was such a crazy-looking creature design that it became one of my favorite species in Star Wars. Naturally, I was super excited to finally get “Hammerhead” in the Black Series line.

Of course, Hasbro’s Star Wars brand line is so dumb (arguably because they’re under insane constraints by the company and Lucasfilm); this guy is considered a “deluxe” figure, because he comes with four accessories. A reused blaster and three cups. Three cups. Less plastic than it would take to make a lightsaber. But the real secret is Star Wars has to charge more for figures like this and Black Krrsantan because the molds are so unique they can’t reuse them again, and they pass the extra expense off on the customer.
